City Council Recap, September 25, 2007
We are getting closer and closer to begin the building of the parking deck in the Depot District.

There will be new signage along Ogden. Rather than the monuments in light at both ends of Ogden, that somehow attracts car to ruin them, there will be banner signage on lightposts indicating that Ogden Avenue is Route 66.

New noise ordinance signs will be going up in the next couple of months in Berwyn to notify people that loud noise emanating from vehicles is against the law.

The Administration Committee will be hopefully coming up with guidelines for Aldermanic expense accounts, that is, how Alderpeople should spend or not spend the $4,500.00 expense account that we have.

A new dangerous animal ordinance should happen in the next couple of months thanks to some pit bull happenings.

That is all there is. Stay tuned.

Raildorad/Police Meeting, Monday, Sep. 17, 2007
As those that live near the CN tracks between Oak Park and Maple know, the railroad has begun to idle its trains more and more, for many, many hours at a time. Besides the noise, there are nasty fumes being spewed into the air.

I urge anyone and everyone to go to the police station on Monday. Please see the Chief's email below. If you can miss work, please do it.

The lawyer from CN will be in the police station at 2PM on Monday, September 17th to discuss with the Chief the tickets for the trains. The Chief strongly encourages you to rally your neighbors to come into this meeting in order to put a face on the problem, and to let the lawyers know just what the concerns are. I have reserved the Community room for the meeting, and hope that enough neighbors and residents are concerned enough to be represented.

City Council Meeting Recap, August 28, 2007
Not too much to report. Not many items on the agenda.

We hope to have a person be in charge of Berwyn's 100th birthday next year. We appointed a Berwyn citizen for now to be that person. Will keep you posted.

Public Works had been given the authority to hire a new Superintendant of Streets. However, the proposed person, who is intensely qualified, was not approved by a 4 to 3 vote. The Mayor appointed him temporarily.

On a 4(1, 6,7,8) to 3(2,3,4) vote, rooftop decks are now allowed on garages. I voted against this. I predict nothing but trouble.

An amendment was made to the handicap parking ordinance. Fines have been increased for those that use fraudulent permits.

Next City Council meeting, Tuesday, September 11, 2007.
