Snow
Public Works crews started plowing and salting this morning at 4 am. Crews were able to get to at least one side of the curb on almost all Tuesday street cleaning routes. Monday's street cleaning routes are being completed later today.

Six crews will remain on duty from 3 pm until 11 pm this evening. An additional crew will continue to work until 7 am, and be replaced with six new workers on Wednesday depending on conditions.

It is the intent of Public Works to have all streets passable and parking open to at least on one side of the street where possible. Parked cars still remain the biggest hindrance to cleaning all the streets curb to curb.

Boxer Mix Dog For Adoption
Sorry that I can not post the photos, but this is a great looking dog and had to post.

Mia is a gorgeous two-year-old, 45-pound affectionate and energetic Boxer/Am Staff-mix looking for a loving home. Mia loves car rides, rawhides, treats, tennis balls, giving kisses and sitting in your lap.

Sadly, Mia lost her 27-year-old mom to an accidental prescription drug overdose. Her mom, a public school teacher and long-time PAWS Chicago volunteer, had found her as a stray on the streets of Chicago.

Mia has been professionally trained in boot camp, so whoever adopts her can continue her training at no additional charge. Mia is house-trained, comes with her own crate, and already knows the commands sit, down, stay, heel and dance like a princess. Mia does have a few dog friends, but does not get along with cats. Mia is looking for a dog-experienced, all-adult household to continue her training and keep her active and well-exercised. Whoever adopts her will have a loyal and loving friend for life.

Mia is extremely healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. To meet and possibly adopt Mia, please contact Susan at sarrobin@sbcglobal.net or Kira at 773-484-7818. Mia's adoption fee is $200.

Positively Pasta
The Berwyn Park District is hosting its Second Annual Positively Pasta Scholarship Dinner at Liberty Cultural Center, 6445 W. 27th Place on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The event is designed to raise funds for the park district scholarship program and all proceeds will be placed into the Scholarship Fund.

The Scholarship Program was created a couple of years ago to help low income families and residents afford to send their children to park programs such as summer camp, pre-school, Freedom Park Children’s Water Park passes, etc… The program is open to all ages and a number of seniors have requested assistance as well.

The entertainment for the event will be Mike Brown who performs songs by Sinatra and Martin.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for kids in advance, $20 for adults and $8 for kids at the door. Kids 3 and under are free. A cash bar will also be available.

This is a great event. Or not.
