Weekend
A few things. First, do not forget the 16th Street Theater. Here.

Second, Horrorbles second show features Cristina Bellar Friday, May 21st from 7:30pm-10:30pm. Cristina Bellar is a self-taught illustrator, jewelry artisan and junk collector. She is always looking to combine her art with her love of vintage oddities, the Victorian era and morbid curiosities. She focuses on Digital Art: Painting and Manipulation, Traditional Pen & Ink, and Mixed Media/Assemblage.

Bellar's jewelry can be described as Gothic, Steampunk, Romantic and Victorian. Some of her themes include: Victorian Pharmacy, Antique Poison Bottles, Vintage Circus/Sideshow, Victorian Mourning, Steampunk Artifacts, Found Objects, etc. She is currently working on an assemblage series and jewelry line inspired by Victorian Poisoning: Death & Murder. For your viewing pleasure she will have Original Artwork, Prints and Jewelry on display and available for purchase.

16th Street Theater Weekend
Watch Chicago Tonight on Channel 11 this Tuesday May 18 from 7 - 8 PM when writer/performer Michael Fosberg of INCOGNITO will be a guest. Michael will be on the radio this Sunday between 10-11am but unless you live near Champaign, IL you will have to listen online at WEFT. Michael ALSO was featured in our local Berwyn Life paper. We love having Michael at 16th Street. His post-show discussions with our audiences remind me why I do theater: to inspire and encourage the simple act of open and honest dialogue between strangers gathered together in a dark theater.

Imagine discovering you are not the person you thought you were. That you have a family, a history, an ethnicity you never knew. Michael Fosberg’s search for his father is told in his true one-man show about identity, race, stereotypes and “how, in an instant, one’s sense of self can be altered forever.” – Jack Helbig, Daily Herald “An engrossing and deeply moving trip.. It will shake you to your own roots.”

The Berwyn Development Corporation established the Chicagoland Great American Mutt Show to fill the unmet demands of dog lovers searching for a venue to showcase the spirit and individuality of their dogs. The event features a wide variety of lively entertainment-based competitions for mutts and purebreds alike. What's more, a new "Interactive Zone" will provide participants and their pooches with the opportunity to test treats such as pupcakes, scrumptious dog-friendly cupcakes; exercise their creative sides in vying to be the next Pupcasso, the doggie version of Picasso with mess-free paw painting; and walk on the wild side by testing out doggie tattoos. Even if the family dog is not of the sporting kind, there will be plenty to taste, smell, and paw.

* All dogs, whether participating in a contest or just visiting, must provide proof of vaccination prior to the event or at the entrance on the day of the event. All dogs must be leashed at all times.

New Cutest Mutt Contest

New this year is the online "Cutest Mutt" Contest that will rely on e-votes from friends and family to make the cut for the day of the show. The pre-event winner will receive a gift card!

Artsy Dog

If anyone is interested in a great dog, please see below:

Lexie is a fun-loving Boxer mix who needs regular entertainment and exercise. She was originally a rescue from the Animal Care League in downtown Chicago, and is likely about 4 years old. Crate-trained and great on a leash, but still has a lot of puppy-like energy. She is coming from an “only-dog” household, but would love to be paired with another young dog that enjoys serious play time. Updated on her shots and gets along great with other well-socialized dogs. Not a good match for children under 10 years old.

We are upset to have to find Lexie a new home, but with one small child and more on the way, we are looking to find a new situation that will allow Lexie to get all the attention she deserves. Please contact Jeromie at 773-510-2652 or jeromie.winsor@comcast.net if you’d like to schedule a visit.

INCOGNITO written by and starring Michael Fosberg starts this week with Press Opening on Thursday and VIP Night on Friday. I have heard so much over the years about Michael's amazing journey and his excellent show, and I guess I had to bring it to our own Berwyn theater in order to finally see it for myself! Join Michael this week to celebrate its opening.
