Grand Opening at 22:

This Friday, February 24th, they will be celebrating their Grand Opening with two events.

12:30 pm-1:30 pm

The Berwyn Development Corporation invites you to join them for the Grand Opening of 22, a new storefront that offers a full range of design services and showcases the work of emerging designers and artists. Network with Berwyn civic officials, local residents and business people as they hold the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the arrival of this mixed use creative space that is equal parts design studio, gallery and market. Join them for a public reception! Come by and check out their current exhibition - Selected Works. This is a great oppotunity to check out the work of Jessica Calek and Dan Streeting, their Director and Creative Director. Beverages and light hors d'oeuvres will be served. Besides the grand opening, 22 is calling for entries. They are looking for work for their third exhibit, Compression Testing. which focuses primarily on one material: corrugated cardboard.

Additionally, The Berwyn Arts Council will be continuing the Artist series! Next Art show is on February 24th! A reception that starts at 5:30 and ends at 9 pm. Kathleen Spale will be displaying her beautiful illustrations. Here's her bio:

Anna and the Palindrome Creek and illustrations from the picture book, Samson’s Tale.

And last but not least, Lori Rader Day and Patricia Ann McNair sharing a double bill at the Tamale Hut Cafe this Saturday @ 7pm.

Patricia Ann McNair’s short story collection, The Temple of Air, was released last year to much acclaim. Patty has lived 98 percent of her life in the Midwest. She’s managed a gas station, sold pots and pans door to door, tended bar and breaded mushrooms, worked on the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and taught aerobics. Today she is an Associate Professor in the Fiction Writing Department of Columbia College Chicago, where she received the Excellence in Teaching Award as well as a nomination for the Carnegie Foundation’s US Professor of the Year. Lori Rader Day won Good Housekeeping’s first short story contest and the 2008 Chris O’Malley Prize in Fiction from The Madison Review. Her stories have been published in Crab Orchard Review, TimeOut Chicago, After Hours, Big Muddy, Southern Indiana Review, Freight Stories and others. In addition to her full-time job, she occasionally teaches at Roosevelt University, where she earned her MFA in creative writing, and curates mystery writing programming for Story Studio North Shore.Visit her blog at loriraderday.blogspot.com.
