Hope this works.

City Council recap, June 12, 2007
Two people were appointed to the Roosevelt Rd. Advisory Committee, the Committee that will work with Oak Park and Cicero to help redevelop Roosevelt Rd.

The Ace Hardware on Ogden will receive a $45,000.00 commercial loan, payable in five years at 4% rate. This money will be used to replace an obsolete point-of-sale computer system.

Six of seven residents were appointed to the Historical Preservation Committee; at least three of whom are from the 3rd Ward.

The two Library Board members from the 3rd Ward were finally officially appointed to the Library Board.

The Police Department was approved to hire two Booking Officers and one Community Service Officer.

An ordinance concerning auxiliary police officers was amended to comply with Illinois Law.

The City appointed a new Financial Advisor to replace the current Financial Advisor so that the City may properly issue bonds. The old Advisor shall become the underwriter of the bonds.

A re-write of the ad seeking a Traffic Engineer was approved. Hopefully, we will be able to hire a good Traffic Engineer in the near future.

We have been negotiating with the Public Works union for more than 1.5 years. The council voted 4-3 to implement the City's best and final offer.

Main Street Meet and Greet

Thursday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m.

Berwyn's Main Street Organization will be holding a Volunteer Meet N Greet at our new office. The office is located on the East side of Cermak Plaza on Home Avenue.

If you have time please come by and please bring a friend.

As a preservation based economic tool, I believe Main Street will be an important and beneficial organization for the development of Cermak Road.

Cruise Night Tonight, June 19, 2007
The second and final cruise night of June. Two more in July, two more in August.

Come on down to the Depot District to look at cool cars. Or not.

Sunday, June 10, 2007

City Council Meeting re-cap, May 22, 2007
A place to be called the Cafe Depot, to open at 6950 Windsor, sought a commercial loan of $40,000.00 from the BDC. The Cafe Depot is supposed to be a wifi/coffee shop. The loan was granted 5-2. I voted against.

The fifth Ward appears that it will go until the next election without an Alderperson.

The Sixth Ward Alderperson is being sued by our former Assistant to the Mayor and will be seeking you, the taxpayers, to foot his defense bill. The taxpayers should not have to foot his bill. Time will tell.

Six foot fences may be allowed in the future. There will be a public hearing soon.

Fines for "P" tickets have been increased.

Compliance ticket fines have been increased.

There you have it. Only 34 items were on this agenda. Looks like the summer may provide shorter meetings. Of course, we shall see.

And one last note: every Saturday, Farmer's Market is back in the Depot District in the morning. Please attend. Or not.

Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Do not forget Cruise Night tonight in the Depot District at Grove and the tracks. Come out and see everyone showcasing their cars. Or not.
